HPLC and mass spectrometry are the two core analytical methods behind any credible peptide
Certificate of Analysis. Here’s what each one actually measures.
HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography)
HPLC separates a sample into its component parts and measures the relative proportion of each,
giving a quantitative purity percentage for the peptide of interest.
Mass Spectrometry (MS)
MS measures the molecular weight of a sample, confirming that what’s in the vial actually
matches the expected mass of the target peptide — an identity check that HPLC purity alone
doesn’t provide.
Why Both Matter
Purity without identity confirmation only tells you the sample is “clean” — not that it’s the
correct compound. Our Ultra-Pure Research Grade uses both tests for that reason.
